Holiday White Elephant Gift Exchange

Holiday White Elephant Gift Exchange

Our last Studio Social of 2024 is going to be an extra fun party.

We are organizing a White Elephant gift exchange. To participate, bring a wrapped gift with you on Sunday, December 22nd.

-=GAME WILL BEGIN AT 2PM=-

Gift to Bring - $15 - $25 value
It is preferred that you bring a gift that is related to crafting.

Examples to start you thinking: Yarn (could be a precious skein from your stash), notions, gift cards, small bags for accessories or projects, neck lights, mugs for warm beverages, lotion, stationary and writing tools for project notes

Use your judgement and only bring something you would be happy to receive as a gift.

Do not bring any expired food or beverage products.

The rules are:

1. Each player brings one wrapped gift to contribute to a common pool.

2. When you come in, you will show your gift and draw a number at the front desk.

3. Players will all gather in the class room. If we run out of seats, some players may need to stand. We will call out numbers in order starting with one, and each player will take their turn.

4. The first player selects a gift from the pool and opens it, and makes sure everyone can see the gift!

5. After the first player, each following player can choose to either:

  • pick an unwrapped gift from the pool;
  • or steal a previous player’s gift. Anyone who gets their gift stolen in this way can do the same – choose a new gift or steal from someone else.

To keep things moving along, there are a couple of limits on gift swapping:

  • A present can only be stolen once per turn, which means players who have a gift stolen from them have to wait to get it back.
  • After three swaps, the turn automatically comes to an end with the last person choosing a new wrapped gift. (otherwise things could drag on for a long time).
  • After three total swaps, a gift is Out. If the same present gets swapped a third time, then it is out of the game and the person holding it gets to walk away with it.

6. After all players have had a turn, the first player gets a chance to swap the gift he or she is holding for any other opened gift. One last chance for the first player to make a swap.

There are no further swaps allowed!
